Poorly written, standard plot

Posted : 11 years, 4 months ago on 28 May 2006 07:14 (A review of The Crystal Shard (Forgotten Realms: The Icewind Dale Trilogy - Book One))

These Salvatore books were a Christmas present from a friend. They read like magazine boilerplate. There are better books out there for your tastes, whatever they may be.

Adolescent fantasy series

Posted : 11 years, 4 months ago on 28 May 2006 06:45 (A review of Death Gate Cycle 1: Dragon Wing)

I read the Death Gate novels while in high school before I discovered literature proper. They were passable at the time but I think would seem predictable and boring to an adult. There are much better fantasy novels available (see A Game of Thrones).

A great scifi book

Posted : 11 years, 4 months ago on 25 May 2006 08:33 (A review of The Mote in God's Eye)

Another great science fiction novel. Not quite hard scifi but pretty close. The only book I've read by Niven but I hear Ringworld is very good. A must for scifi fans.
